CBSE declares NEET results, Gujarat boy tops with 685 out of 720

CBSE announced the combined results of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) – phase I and II on Tuesday – a day before the scheduled declaration of results. The Supreme Court had earlier directed the Board to put the results online on or before August 17, 2016.

Het Shah of Nadiad, Gujarat topped the exams scoring 685 out of 720, followed by Ekansh Goyal with 685 from Rourkela, Odisha. The third spot was secured by Nikhil Bhajiya with a score of 678 marks.

19,325 students have qualified in the top 15%, of which 11,058 are boys, 8,266 girls, and 1 is a transgender. CBSE has also announced the top 10 candidates who scored 99.998632 percentile (668 marks out of 720) and above. In all eight candidates scored 670 and above in the exam.

Total eligible candidates this year were 8,02,594 of which 7,31,223 took the exam. Among these 1,71,329 from general category have met the minimum qualifying criteria of marks range 685-145, while 1,75,226 OBC scored between marks range of 678-118.

NEET-I and NEET-II+ were conducted on May 1, 2016 and July 24, 2016 respectively. NEET-I was conducted at 1,040 centres in 52 cities all over India and abroad while NEET-II was conducted at 739 centres in 56 cities in India.
