    Periyar National Park
  • It is a protected area in the districts of Idukki and Pathanamthitta in Kerala, declared as the Periyar National Park in 1982.
  • It is notable as an elephant reserve and a tiger reserve.
  • Located high in the Cardamom Hills and Pandalam Hills of the southern Western Ghats along the border with Tamil Nadu.

  • The name´”Pampadum Shola” means, “the forest where the snake dances”.
    Mathikettan Shola National Park
  • It is in Poopara village of Udumbanchola taluk in Idukki district.
  • The name Mathikettan derives from the Tamil word literally meaning ‘mind confuser’, as the local people say that one forgets the path once he enters into the park.
     Karimpuzha National Park
  •  It is located in the Nilgiri Hills, in Palakkad district.
