UNSC imposes tough sanctions against North Korea over nuclear test

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has unanimously adopted a resolution to impose a broad array of sanctions against North Korea in response to its fourth nuclear test and missile launch. UNSC imposes tough sanctions against North Korea over nuclear test

The resolution was drafted by the United States and backed by China. The sanction will go further than any U.N. sanctions in two decades, it will be tougher than the Iran sanctions regime.

About the sanction :

1. All cargo going to and from North Korea will be inspected on  all airports and sea ports destined for and coming from North Korea.

2. The sanction imposes severe restrictions on exports of iron and iron ore, coal, gold, titanium and rare earth minerals from North Korea and also prohibits their supply.

3. The sancton further tightens arms embargo by banning sales of small arms and strict inspection of bars vessels suspected of carrying illegal goods for North Korea from sea ports.

4. The sanction asks U.N. member states to ban North Korea from opening banks, and to close any banks believed to be associated with North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs.

5. The sancton directs member states to expel North Korean diplomats and foreign nationals engaged in illicit activities.

6. The member nations will not stop North Korean nationals from taking training  in fields that could advance the nation’s missile and nuclear programs.

7. The sancton bans member states from allowing North Korea to charter foreign vessels or aircraft, and also bans all nations from operating any vessels that use North Korean flags. The sancton  prohibit the supply of aviation fuel including rocket fuel.
