Why is it so difficult to crack the UPSC in the first attempt?

This is one among many myths about upsc that one can not pass in first attempt. I will say if one believes in oneself and ready to put required efforts and with right guidance at the right time will definitely crack upsc in very first attempt with good rank.

I gave exam in 2018. I started reading NCERTs when I was in my final year ( 2017). I started reading newspaper at that time only. So I devoted one and half year preparation for my first attempt. I prepared myself everyday in one direction only, towards my aim and finally got AIR 231 in my very first attempt .

Some suggestions For UPSC Aspirants

• KNOW THE EXAM – know your syllabus first. This will be your fijrst test. If you are thorough with this, you can limit your preparation.
• START EARLY – You should start your preparation early, maybe in your graduation days. Atleast habit of reading newspaper will be a good thing. This will prepare you for a real battle.
• SELECT OPTIONAL WISELY- optional is key to get you in that elite list, so select it wisely.
• FIND A GOOD MENTOR- who can give you right guidance at right time. A mentor can be a selected candidate, a serious preparing candidate, your senior etc
• READ SELECTIVELY- One should know what to read and what not to read. If you are able to differentiate then half of your work is done. So read very wisely. Read less sources but revise it multiple times.
• SOME SACRIFICES- stay away from social media. It will help you to keep isolated and focused on your preparation.
• HAVE YOUR OWN GENUINE WAY- everybody is capable to be creative. So bring it in your mains writing.
• CONSISTENT- be consistent in your preparation for continuous one year. Daily preparation is the most important thing.

I can list 100 suggestions, but most important thing which I find necessary to crack in the first attempt is- BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, THAT YOU CAN DO IT, SAY IT TO YOURSELF EVERY DAY. This will keep your morale high.

Last but not the list, PLAN WISELY, because If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.
