India truly gives some of the most inspiring stories that can spur up anyone. An 18-year-old prepared for his IIT from an open jail facility and cracked the exam. He prepared from the open jail facility as his father was a convict there. His father Phool Chand, after spending 14 years in Jail, has been moved to an open facility where he can go out for work in the morning but have to return to jail in the evening. His son Piyush has secured 458th rank in  Engineering entrance exams of IIT.
The conditions were bad – a room barely 8X8 feet, where the lights went out at 11 in the night. There wasn’t much money to spend on books either. A convict in a murder case, his father Phool Chand Goyal’s resources were slim — which is also why Piyush could not afford to stay in a hostel in the city and study.
“The jail is not so bad,” he said. “People think the atmosphere is very bad here, but that is not so… Today I have fulfilled my father’s dream. He showed great courage by keeping me here and funding my studies.”

Father stands by his son
The 18-year-old studied from his father’s cell in Kota jail as he could not afford much for his son Piyush to study. However, he did send his son to tuition classes for preparation. Piyush never complained and in fact, he is grateful to his dad for the courage he had shown and determination in keeping him at the facility and supporting him in studies. He also is grateful to the jail authorities for allowing him to study there. The jail authorities and his parents have expressed their happiness over the fact that his son has cleared the exams under adverse circumstances.
